Mustard might be the answer if you’re a modern bride who loves the monochrome city chic format and wants a pop of color to liven up your decor.
Mustard is a delicious, earthy yellow that we expect to be a stand-alone color in our Fall wedding feeds. This stunning shade pairs well with warm neutrals such as burgundy and olive. However, it shines when paired with a black-and-white palette.
Mustard candles shine against anemones in black and white (swoon!) Bright billy button accents a bold, chic tablescape. Like our mustard décor, gold jewels sparkle against minimalistic black tie attire. This includes a silk wedding gown with a simple and elegant look and a killer black bridesmaid jumpsuit.

From Blonde Army
As a wedding designer, I always try to create new trends and aesthetics. I wanted to create an elegant and modern design in a classical setting to show that a traditional location doesn’t necessarily seek classic styling.
I found Kent House at Knightsbridge in London, and I knew it was the perfect place to create my vision. I love the original features of this house, including its herringbone flooring, tall windows, drapes, and marble fireplace, as well as the cascading stairs and marble fireplace.
The venue is neutral but has a lot of character and history. My minimal styling worked perfectly, and each element was a statement. I did not want to add too much color or overstyle the venue, as this would detract from its true beauty.
I used a monochrome palette with gold and mustard accents. Simple, chic, and timeless elegance. I used vintage props with modern design for timeless elegance. A style that is understated but makes a significant impact.
Stationery
Stationery was one of my most important considerations. Your wedding stationery should reflect your style and mood. Nat’s Paper Studio designed something elegant, with clean lines and minimal written content. The card’s thickness demonstrated quality. The velum added delicacy, and the wax seals were made by hand. They are a work of art and capture the mood of the time.
Dress & Attire
A dream team created the bride’s look. Sylwia Knysz enhanced the model’s natural beauty with copper tones and made her skin glow. Knot, your Average Bride, created loose, tousled waves for an effortless look. Mcfayden Millinery produced a beautiful, handmade chapel veil inspired by the 1930’s. This added a vintage touch to this bride’s fresh and modern look.
Jan is Fashion made the bridal wear for this shoot. Simple silk two-pieces provided an elegant, understated look. A separate garment with black velvet studs and bell sleeves enhanced the statement look. Freya Rose is one of my favorite designers. The modern bride can choose from a variety of styles that are cool and contemporary. The heel is bold and stylish.
New and Lingwood provided the groom’s bow tie and tux. I dressed my groom in a black tie, instantly giving him a sophisticated look. The lapels have traditional lusters weave faille, which adds an extra touch.
The Flowers & Decor
I wanted to limit the florals and focus on installation pieces instead of centerpieces. The lovely ladies at Stems & Bows understood my brief -‘ more of a high-end fashion show than a wedding.’ The ‘floral arches’ were transformed into a wall background using three mustard vases, pampas, and tall foliage. I liked how we were able to rearrange the vases and create different scenes. We could also use them in various areas of the venue.
The table was decorated with black napkins and black and gold cutlery. Another element that was carefully considered was to keep the table neat. I did not want side plates or plates, as they would have been too crowded. I used Curious Egg and a mix of white and mustard-colored tapered candles to maintain a clean and composed look. I chose cut-glass tumblers, champagne glasses, and an original vintage decanter to continue the vintage meets the modern theme.
Desserts
I decided to go with a trio of mini cakes instead of a traditional wedding cake to make it more personal for each guest. Danielle from Bespoke Bakers made a trio of simple cakes presented on slate.
The Photography & Videography
The entire shoot was captured in stunning detail by Lisa Jane Photography. I was immediately drawn to her style because it’s raw, edgy, and honest. Lisa’s style is unique; I love how she frames her photos. She captures the details in a way that is not the norm. She plays with light, which I knew would go well with my monochrome palette and the shapes and silhouettes I created in all styling elements.
