This intimate wedding on a yacht by the sea will melt your heart.
The beach ruins made us think this wedding occurred somewhere off the coast in Bretagne. The cool tones, old-world vibes, and chic clothes seemed to be fitting for a Parisian pair, didn’t they?
No, in fact! Kelsie, A Little Shimmer’s travel and style blogger, is incredibly stylish (go figure). What about the location? Newport Beach in Southern California! The Utahn couple found the most beautiful spots in Orange County to take their portraits, then hopped aboard their yacht for an elegant seaborne reception.
It’s not only the lavish dresses and the beautiful location that makes us swoon but the decisions behind it all. Bride Kelsie and her late brother shared many fond memories in Southern California. They chose their destination wedding to honor them both.
The Destination
Kelsie, a travel and style blogger for A Little Bit of Shimmer, and her husband live in Utah. When they began planning their wedding, they wanted a luxurious but quiet destination wedding.
Newport Beach, CA, was chosen as the location for their discussion. This decision was made because of a particular reason. The Bride’s brother died a year earlier, and she had some of the most precious memories with him from her family vacations in Southern California. Both knew that it would be meaningful to celebrate love in a place where her little bro had been.
The Bride and her family knew planning a destination wedding could be stressful, so they decided to take care of many details themselves.
The Ceremony
The couple celebrated their wedding day with their family in a private ceremony at the Newport Beach LDS Temple.
The Bride and her family selected the flowers from the LA Floral Market.
The Reception Style
After the wedding ceremony, the Bride changed into a new dress and took her loved ones on a lunch cruise at the Newport Yacht Club, thanks to the Newport Beach Yacht Club. Even though it was overcast, the afternoon was full of magic!
Kelsie wore an appliqued 3D lace gown with a neckline and waistline made from heavily beaded lace. The decor included greenery, fresh flowers, and blush and gold accents. There were also pictures of the Bride and groom and delicious treats.
The wedding was clean, glamorous, and classy, with many personal touches. It was stunning, magical, and intimate. It was a perfect tribute to the past, present, and future memories of happiness and love.
The Details
The couple designed the menus. The couple’s favorite Southern California restaurant served guests delicious pasta (primavera pasta, spinach, and ricotta ravioli, green salad), garlic bread, and a green salad.
The vanilla and strawberry unadorned cake is a tasty treat. Cotton candy on the champagne glasses gave them a whimsical look. The wedding party received customized sunglasses that featured #happilyeverafter.
